You might be used to our blog posts being written predominantly for Moms (we are New Mom School after all) but this blog post is for all the Dads out there.

Don’t worry—it’s not all about sHaving a new baby is such an exciting time, and the pride you feel as a new dad is a feeling that will be hard to top. Once your baby is born, your life changes overnight. Life with a new baby brings an incredibly huge lifestyle shift and new responsibilities into the home, in addition to sleep deprivation that pains you and your partner to your core.

You may have attended all of the classes at the hospital, accompanied your partner to all of her doctor’s appointments, and read all of the books, but life at home once the baby arrives isn’t anything you can really prepare for.

We know from decades of research that new parents have a difficult time adjusting as a couple to life with a newborn.

Did you know that over 70% of new parents report a decline in marital satisfaction after welcoming a new baby?

This transition isn’t easy for the majority of us, and if you’re feeling overwhelmed, you’re definitely not alone.

While there are many resources available for new mothers, we wanted to also provide resources for dads, which is why we’ve created The New Dad School Class Series.

Join other new dads in this 4-part class series where you will learn to make sense of this chaotic time in your life. Over four meetings, you’ll get a handle on why things seem so different now, what you might expect in the future, and which new skills may be necessary for you to show up the way you’d like, with stronger partnerships and a greater sense of connection with your baby.

Sitting down and talking through feelings, and you’ll never be forced to share anything you’re uncomfortable with. We’ll welcome you however you’d prefer to show up.

We just want you to better understand what you and your partner are going through and to help you find creative ways of bringing your strengths into the family, getting your needs met, and fostering intimacy during this huge transition.

Our class series is led by Dr. David Kyle Bond, a Licensed Psychologist with a background in developmental psychology and attachment theory, and a local private practice serving adults and teens across a wide range of ages. As someone who specializes in working with men during times of transition—and as someone with firsthand experience when it comes to new fatherhood—he’s carefully crafted this educational workshop to be both informative and practical.

Please don’t struggle or manage this massive life change in silence, or alone…join us! You can learn more details and register for The New Dad School, right here. (Our January intake sold out in a few hours, so we’ve opened registration for a February series you can sign up for now.)
